After saree the next traditional dress worn by women in India is salwar kameez. Salwar Suit can be worn anywhere at casual occasion, a formal event, at home or office, at wedding function, festive celebrations, family get together and even parties depending on the designs used to decorate the traditional outfit. Shalwar kameez is a versatile, comfortable outfit consisting of three key pieces: kameez-top part, salwar-bottom part and dupatta. Kameez – the top part is the long tunic, also called kurta, Salwar – the bottom is loose pair of trousers, which is a loose pant that narrows towards the ankles. The kurta is worn on top of the salwar. The ensemble is paired with a flowing scarf called the dupatta, this dupatta is also called odhni. Indian woman have been known to wear dupatta or odhni around their head as a mark of respect while visiting places of worship or as a mark of respect on meeting someone important or senior citizen.
